Title: Canaries in a Coalmine
Author: Beer Good (beer_good_foamy)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, post-series
Rating: PG13
Word count: ~1900
Characters/Pairing: Dawn, Faith
Author's Note: Written for spook_me and the prompt "Disease"
Summary: They probably expected the apocalypse to look a lot different. "Probably" since, well, nobody's quite sure if they can trust their memories now that there seems to be worldwide amnesia pandemic. Trying to keep their heads cool while everyone around is losing theirs, Dawn and Faith take some of the last Slayers on a roadtrip trying to find a cure.

She's spent so much time trying to pinpoint where it started that she's not even sure of what it is she's not sure of, what's memories and what's just things they've repeated enough times. Memories aren't supposed to be perfect, she keeps thinking. People forget stuff every day. How do you know when you start forgetting things for real? Buffy was always absent-minded, was Dawn supposed to notice when the whatchamacallems got more frequent? If they'd noticed earlier, could they have done anything differently, could they have -

Two recent genfics with some things in common but rather different results:

Title: All In A Day's Work
Author: Beer Good (beer_good_foamy)
Fandom: Buffy/Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
Rating: PG13
Word count: ~850
Warnings/Notes: Poking fun at national stereotypes.
Characters/Pairing: Buffy, Xander, Yoshimi
Summary: To be fair, Buffy wasn't entirely sure how she was supposed to stop a giant robot about to attack Tokyo. But still, being told someone else would handle it felt a bit weird.
A crossover with the Flaming Lips song "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Part 1" (lyrics). You don't need to be familiar with the song to read it, though a certain awareness of Japanese monster movies helps.

Fic: Telling Porkies

Title: Telling Porkies
Author: Beer Good (beer_good_foamy)
Fandom: Buffy, season 2
Rating: PG13
Word count: ~3,500
Characters: Dawn, Mr Gordo, Buffy, Joyce, Spike, Angelus
Summary: A different angle on "Becoming". Buffy thinks she has problems with Angel turning evil? Well, boo hoo. Dawn has to deal with a possessed stuffed pig trying to raise an army to end the world. Can she stop Mr Gordo in time?
Written for letsgetitdone 2013.

OK, this was ridiculous. Dawn was eleven and a half, she was a big girl, she knew perfectly well that stuffed toys weren't alive. Only little kids believed in monsters in the closet. And only really weird little kids believed in evil, demonic, fluffy pigs in the closet. Still, best to make sure.

Shadows and Light

Fic: Total Perspective Vortex

Title: Total Perspective Vortex
Author: Beer Good (beer_good_foamy)
Fandom: Buffy, post-season 6
Rating: PG13
Word count: ~1100
Characters/Pairing: Willow, Miss Harkness (mentioned in "Lessons")
Summary: Willow in England, post-"Grave". It's one thing to have people tell you everything's connected. It's another to feel it.
Written for spook_me and the prompt "Shapeshifter" and this image.

It (whatever "it" is) rains a lot in England. It probably has to, with all those lakes. She learned about the water cycle in science class: evaporation, condensation, trepidation, precipitation, etc. It's perfectly natural, but still hard not to find weird after growing up in a desert. Something inside Willow is insisting against better knowledge that things should stay where they are, what they are. Water in the sea, clouds in the sky, plants on the ground, alive people alive and ... all that stuff.
